Bookmakers have dramatically revised the odds for the 2026 Formula One World Drivers’ Championship following Ferrari’s eye-catching performance at pre-season testing in Bahrain. The final day of running at the Bahrain International Circuit prompted a major market shake-up.
After three weeks of testing under the sport’s new regulations — split between Barcelona and Bahrain — Mercedes had appeared to set the early benchmark, with their much-discussed engine package drawing attention across the paddock ahead of the season opener.
But Ferrari turned heads on the final day, particularly through Charles Leclerc, whose pace sparked a surge of confidence among bookmakers. The Monegasque driver clocked a best time of 1:31.992 and completed 132 laps, capping off an impressive showing that has reshaped expectations.
Prior to testing, Sky Bet had Leclerc priced at 20/1 for the 2026 crown, while teammate Lewis Hamilton was listed at 25/1 to secure a record-breaking eighth title. Following their Bahrain form, Leclerc’s odds have shortened dramatically to 11/2, with Hamilton now at 7/1 as Ferrari suddenly look like genuine contenders.
Despite the momentum, neither Ferrari driver has overtaken Mercedes’ George Russell as favourite, with the Brit currently leading the market at 9/4 ahead of Max Verstappen at 4/1. While Ferrari’s testing pace has injected fresh intrigue into the title race, the true competitive order will only become clear when racing begins in Melbourne.
