Oscar Piastri’s title bid collapsed in Abu Dhabi, leaving him third in the standings as teammate Lando Norris claimed his first world championship. Despite the heartbreak, Piastri maintained composure, though one sharp remark hinted at lingering frustration after Norris’ celebratory sign accidentally struck him amid the chaos.
In interviews, Piastri praised Norris’ performance, acknowledging their fierce three-year rivalry and admitting the Brit ultimately executed a stronger season. He described Norris as a deserving champion, noting both drivers experienced highs and lows while pushing each other to the limit inside identical machinery.
Yet Piastri’s humor revealed an edge. While commending Norris, he cheekily insisted the new champion hadn’t “become Superman” overnight. He emphasized that their working relationship would remain fair and balanced, expressing confidence the team would continue providing equal treatment heading into 2026.
Piastri also dismissed concerns of a power shift within McLaren, reaffirming trust in the team’s integrity. He admitted Norris had simply performed better across the season but made clear he expected to remain a strong contender, eager to challenge again next year.
Meanwhile, Norris insisted he genuinely hoped Piastri would win the Abu Dhabi race, believing a victory would help his teammate secure second overall. Though that outcome slipped away, Norris said he had rooted for Piastri’s success, adding another layer to their complicated but respectful rivalry.
